- Period and age: Late Jurassic, about 154–153 million years ago
- Where found: Morrison Formation, western Colorado and nearby areas (USA)
- Habitat: Seasonally dry floodplain with conifer woodland along rivers
- Plants: Tall araucarian-type conifers, cycads, ginkgoes, tree ferns, horsetails; no flowers, no grass
- Neighbors: Diplodocus, Apatosaurus, Camarasaurus, Stegosaurus, Allosaurus
- Debated: How steeply the neck was raised; head crest height; color unknown
